Indra Spain has unveiled a new cruise missile named 'Squal', which will cost one-tenth of existing advanced missiles. This missile has the capability for multiple targeting and penetration of enemy air defenses.

Indra (Indra) Spain has unveiled a new cruise missile named 'Squal', which the company claims will cost only one-tenth the price of current advanced missiles. This move allows users to pressure enemy targets with multiple attacks using this missile.

Technical Specifications of the Squal Missile

The Squal missile is capable of carrying a warhead weighing 50 to 60 kilograms and can fly over 300 kilometers at low altitude. This missile, weighing 150 kilograms and measuring 3.4 meters in length, can reach a speed of 0.8 Mach. This information was announced by one of Indra's officials in an interview with defense media.

Targeting Strategy and Costs

Juan Mahon, the business development manager of Indra's weapons and ammunition division, stated that in recent conflicts, armed forces have used very expensive weapons to target low-cost objectives. He said, "If you want to pressure an enemy's defenses, you cannot use expensive missiles that each cost 2 to 3 million euros."

He added, "You may not need the capabilities that an expensive missile offers. What you really need is to fire 10 to 20 missiles to saturate the target and then employ one expensive missile."

Indra hopes that the price of the Squal missile will be set in such a way that operators can purchase ten Squal missiles for the cost of one expensive missile.

Typical Targets and Technological Capabilities

Typical targets for the Squal missile will include command and control centers, air defense systems, and high-value military infrastructure. Indra stated that this missile will be equipped with "various guidance and navigation systems designed to counter jamming and deception efforts to reach the intended target."

This missile will also be supported by a fully Spanish supply chain, which, according to Indra, is based on components over which sovereignty and control are maintained. This will help ensure production capability during crises when international supply chains may be disrupted and access to certain materials may become difficult.
