Is it time to set a new goal for climate change?

As the world struggles to limit temperature rise, this goal seems impossible. Is it time to change course now?

In 2015, the countries of the world agreed to limit temperature rise to less than 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. However, evidence now suggests that this goal has become a major challenge, and many experts believe that achieving it is nearly impossible.

Challenges of Climate Change

Climate change has become an undeniable reality. Frequent floods, storms, and droughts indicate a serious crisis that the world is facing. In this context, some experts suggest that instead of focusing on temperature limits, we should pay attention to new goals such as "reduction" and "peak." This approach may allow different countries to adopt various strategies to combat climate change based on their specific circumstances.

Time for a Change in Approach

Given the fact that developing and developed countries face different challenges, this change in approach could benefit developing countries that may not be able to quickly meet established standards. It is possible that through gradual reduction and control of greenhouse gas emissions, different countries can achieve better outcomes.

Is it time for governments and international organizations to acknowledge this reality and move towards these new goals? Can they use science and technology to help achieve these goals? These are questions that need to be answered.

Ultimately, the world is at risk and needs immediate and effective action. If we cannot reach a new and practical agreement, we may soon face dire consequences that will be beyond our capabilities.
