OpenAI has projected that by the end of 2030, it will spend $278 billion more than its revenue. The company is seeking investment with a valuation exceeding $1.2 trillion.

OpenAI has projected that by the end of 2030, it will spend $278 billion more than its revenue. This forecast reflects the very high financial needs of this artificial intelligence company on the brink of new investment negotiations.

Details of Financial Deficit and Revenue

Analyses indicate that OpenAI expects to face a financial deficit of $278 billion between 2026 and 2030. This figure is a decrease from a previous forecast that estimated a $305 billion deficit for this period. The company's revenue is also projected to grow from $36 billion in 2026 to $350 billion by 2030, totaling $840 billion during this timeframe.

However, OpenAI's expenses related to infrastructure and computing power, which constitute its largest costs, are expected to reach $856 billion. While OpenAI raised $122 billion in March, reports indicate that these financial resources may be depleted by 2028.

Competition and Market Strategies

OpenAI's current valuation is approximately $852 billion, and the company is looking to attract investors with a valuation exceeding $1.2 trillion. To compete with rivals such as Anthropic and low-cost models from China, OpenAI has reduced its prices. The company's annual revenue increased by about 20% in July following the release of new models.

Chip manufacturers like Nvidia, Oracle, and SoftBank's data center business are heavily reliant on contracts with OpenAI, and this dependency is considered a key factor in these companies' market strategies.

OpenAI intended to conduct its initial public offering (IPO) this fall and had confidentially filed its application in June, but this process has been delayed due to public concerns about the risks associated with artificial intelligence. Some investors are also worried about how the market will react to a company with significant losses.

Meanwhile, Anthropic is also expected to achieve an IPO this fall.
