The United States government has signed an agreement with Greenland, under which permanent control of the security of this island will be transferred to the United States. This agreement addresses U.S. security concerns and the influence of global rivals.

The United States government has announced that it has signed an agreement with Greenland, under which permanent control over the security of this Arctic island will be transferred to the United States. President Donald Trump wrote on his social media that this agreement fully addresses U.S. security concerns.

Details of the Agreement and Its Dimensions

Trump stated in a statement that this agreement allows the United States to permanently monitor the security of Greenland, and no rival of the United States can undertake military or economic actions in this island without written approval from Washington. He stated that this action is in line with ensuring the national security of the United States and Greenland.

The agreement appears to be designed to prevent the influence of global rivals, particularly Russia and China, in Greenland. After threatening military action, Trump proceeded to sign this agreement and emphasized its strategic importance. He announced that the United States will soon begin the process of developing military presence in suitable areas of Greenland.

Reactions to the Agreement and Challenges

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Greenland President Jens-Frederik Nielsen stated in a statement that this agreement will be signed at the United Nations General Assembly next week. Nielsen considered this agreement beneficial for all parties and emphasized mutual security.

However, this action has faced opposition. The people of Greenland and U.S. European allies have criticized this agreement and called for respect for Greenland's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Once again, some protesters in Greenland took to the streets with local flags and slogans against U.S. intervention.

Polls show that the majority of Americans oppose this agreement. According to a Pew Research Center survey, 58% of Americans oppose the U.S. taking over Greenland, while only 21% support it.
