Turkey's Baykar Akıncı drone successfully hit a high-speed air target using the indigenous Sungur air defense missile in the Black Sea. This test took place on a specific date at the Çorlu flight training and testing center located in Tekirdağ province.

After taking off from the Çorlu center, the Akıncı drone flew to the test area in the Black Sea. This test was conducted off the coast of Sinop under controlled conditions. During the test, the Akıncı launched the Sungur missile and directly hit the high-speed air target.
The Sungur missile, developed by the defense company Roketsan, has advanced capabilities in air defense and was recently used in this test. This test demonstrates Turkey's significant advancements in military technologies and defense capabilities.
Capabilities of the Akıncı Drone and Baykar's Achievements
Baykar has aimed to enhance its defense capabilities by integrating various types of munitions into the Akıncı model. This drone is capable of conducting attacks on various targets from close to long range and is considered a multi-purpose system. Previously, the Akıncı has successfully conducted tests with smart air-to-air missiles and multi-purpose munitions.
Since its establishment, Baykar has financed all its projects from domestic sources and has been recognized as the largest exporter in the military drone sector in 2025. The company recorded an export figure of $2.2 billion in 2025 and has earned 90% of its revenue in recent years from exports.
Baykar has also signed export contracts with 39 countries, including 36 contracts for the Bayraktar TB2 model and 16 contracts for the Akıncı. These agreements have helped strengthen Turkey's position in the global arms and military technology market.
