The U.S. stock market closed significantly higher on Thursday. A drop in oil prices and bond yields helped improve investor sentiment.

The New York stock market closed higher on Thursday, attributed to factors such as falling oil prices and bond yields. These developments provided investors with greater confidence regarding market trends.

Key Indexes Rise

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 316.14 points, or 0.61 percent, to 51,778.04. Additionally, the S&P 500 increased by 1.14 percent or 85.95 points to 7,637.76, and the Nasdaq Composite rose by 1.69 percent or 439.87 points to 26,418.30. These increases were particularly notable following the Federal Reserve's interest rate hike on Wednesday, the first in three years.

Drop in Oil Prices and Bond Yields

The market volatility index (VIX), known as the "fear index," fell by 12.87 percent to 15.43. Concerns about oil supply, which had increased in recent days, eased with Brent crude oil prices dropping by 1.6 percent to $104.13 per barrel. Additionally, the yield on 10-year U.S. Treasuries reached 4.93 percent, indicating a decrease of 7 basis points.

Analysts believe that the Federal Reserve's interest rate hike signaled to investors that the institution is working to control inflation, and this assurance improved market sentiment. With falling oil prices, some concerns about energy supply have also diminished.

European Markets Status

European stock markets also experienced gains on this day. The Stoxx Europe 600 index rose by 0.86 percent to 642.60 points. In the UK, the FTSE 100 increased by 1.19 percent to 10,816.14. Furthermore, Germany's DAX 40 rose by 0.7 percent to 25,716.71, and France's CAC 40 also experienced a 0.57 percent increase, reaching 8,186.93 points.

In Italy, the FTSE MIB 30 rose by 0.8 percent to 52,385.50, and in Spain, the IBEX 35 increased by 1 percent to 19,831.80. These gains reflect a positive trend in European markets, shaped by improved economic conditions and increased investor confidence.
