European stock markets rose on Wednesday led by technology stocks as investors awaited the U.S. Federal Reserve's interest rate decision.

European stock markets continued their rise on Wednesday with gains in technology indices. The Stoxx Europe 600 index increased by 0.46% to 637.09 points. This increase occurred as investors awaited the U.S. Federal Reserve's interest rate decision.

National Index Increases

In the UK, the FTSE 100 rose by 0.28% to 10,688.47 points. In Germany, the DAX increased by 0.53% to 25,537.75 points, and in France, the CAC 40 grew by 0.62% to 8,140.59 points. Additionally, Italy's FTSE MIB rose by 0.80% to 51,969.12 points. Spain's IBEX 35 also increased by 0.41% to 19,635.80 points.

Euro Fluctuations and Interest Rate Predictions

The euro decreased by 0.08% and traded at $1.153. Markets priced in a 95% chance of a 25 basis point increase in the Federal Reserve's interest rate to a range of 3.75% to 4%, driven by U.S. employment and inflation data. Analysts stated that uncertainty in the monetary policy outlook under Jerome Powell, the Federal Reserve Chair, has caused concern among bond market investors.

Impact on Oil Markets and Treasury Yields

Brent crude oil prices fell by 3.3% to $105.21 per barrel after U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright announced that a critical Saudi oil pipeline might be repaired quickly. Additionally, the yield on U.S. 10-year Treasury bonds decreased to 4.99%, after reaching 5.04% on Tuesday, the highest level since the 2007 financial crisis. In Germany, the yield on 10-year bonds was around 3.53%.

Technology Stock Growth and Automotive Industry Challenges

Technology stocks rebounded from earlier week losses after Bank of America raised its forecast for the global semiconductor market size in 2030 to $3.2 trillion. Shares of Infineon, Hochtief, and Siemens Energy rose by up to 3.1%. However, automotive stocks faced pressure as Berenberg Bank warned that weak demand from China, geopolitical risks, increasing competition, and excess capacity would harm profitability in this sector.
