Italy and Spain have extended their border controls for another 15 days due to rising tensions in managing migrants. Reasons for Extending Border Controls
The Italian Ministry of the Interior announced that this extension is necessary due to the continued high risks to internal security and "potential risks related to terrorist infiltration." Italy has been enforcing border controls since last August, and this decision was made again due to the high volume of migrants entering Ceuta.
In response to this action, the Spanish Ministry of the Interior announced that its border controls will also continue until October 8, and the reasons for these controls "have not changed." Both countries continue to enforce border controls despite no signs of migrants from Ceuta attempting to travel to Italy, and they are even not allowed to travel to mainland Spain.
