Kia has unveiled its second electric van, the PV7, as a larger version of the PV5 introduced in 2025. This new van has the capability to travel up to 285 miles on a single charge and produces a maximum of 268 horsepower and 309 pound-feet of torque.
Technical Specifications and Design Options
The PV7 will initially be available in various cargo and passenger models in Europe and South Korea. In early 2025, Kia introduced the PV5, recognized as the pioneer of this South Korean automaker's efforts to capture the electric commercial vehicle market. With the unveiling of the PV7, Kia aims to expand its electric van production line.
The PV7 was introduced at the IAA Transportation 2026 exhibition in Hanover, Germany, and is considered the second model from Kia's Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) production line. This model will be offered in cargo and passenger versions and, like the PV5, will only be available as an electric van. This structure helps improve interior space and allows for the addition of more variants to the production line in the future.
Performance and Charging Capabilities
Initial PV7 models will be offered with a front-wheel-drive system, but Kia plans to add all-wheel-drive versions to the production line as well. The Long Range cargo version of the PV7 can achieve a distance of 285 miles using the European WLTP testing cycle, which is likely equivalent to 240 miles using the EPA efficiency method. The 800-volt architecture allows the PV7 to charge from 10 to 80 percent in about 25 minutes with a fast DC charger.
The exterior design of the PV7 remains true to the futuristic style of the PV5, featuring slim daytime running lights and a glossy black grille. Inside the cabin, there is a 14.6-inch display on the dashboard and a slim digital cluster. The cabin also includes multiple physical buttons for the air conditioning system.
Kia has announced that the PV7 will be available for sale in South Korea and Europe starting in 2027, with plans to expand the PV7 production line with 23 different models. Additionally, Kia intends to introduce a larger model named PV9 in 2029.
