A Russian drone that was recovered earlier this week on the Baltic coast of Poland had an explosive device. A spokesperson for the Polish investigative prosecutor's office provided this information to the PAP news agency on Wednesday.
Details of the Findings
The unmanned drone "had an explosive warhead equipped with a triggering system." The spokesperson announced in the city of Poznań, Poland, that the drone was found on Monday near the recreational area of Rusinowo located in northwestern Poland.

Actions of Special Forces
The special forces of the Polish army separated the warhead from the drone and neutralized it on the recreational beaches. This warhead will now be transferred to a military center for further examination. According to reports, this drone is of the Gerbera-2 type made in Russia, and Poland is investigating its possible connection to a separate incident in Lithuania.
Incident in Lithuania
On Tuesday night, a Russian combat drone entered Lithuanian airspace and was shot down by the country's defense forces. According to information from the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense, that drone was also equipped with explosives. Polish Defense Minister Włodzimierz Czarzasty stated that the drone found on the Baltic coast of Poland may have also flown over Lithuania.
Political and Security Developments
After attempts to neutralize this drone, it flew towards the Lithuanian border and towards the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad, and then likely continued over the Baltic Sea. Poland, as a member of the European Union and NATO, is considered a key political and military ally of Ukraine, which is defending itself against the Russian invasion. At the same time, Warsaw sees Moscow as a security threat. A Russian drone attack on a moving train from Kyiv to Warsaw, which recently occurred near the Polish border, has raised concerns for the Polish government.
