A Russian drone attack on a public bus in the Nikopol region of Ukraine on Wednesday killed five people and injured at least seven others. This incident has been described as a terrorist act by Ukrainian officials.
Details of the Attack
Local officials reported that the attack occurred while the bus was in motion and severely damaged the vehicle. Oleksandr Honchar, the governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region, stated in a message on Telegram: "Seven injured individuals are currently receiving medical treatment, and all necessary assistance is being provided to them." He also shared images of the damaged bus showing blood stains on the seats.
Increase in Attacks and Reactions
Following this attack, Kyiv also reported new Russian assaults. Local officials stated that warehouses are burning and one person has been injured in these attacks. Additionally, in the Mykolaiv region, Ukraine's state railway company reported that a drone attacked a passenger train on the Kyiv-Mykolaiv route. Fortunately, all passengers reached safety in time, and no injuries were reported, but the train caught fire.
Journalists and analysts have noted the increase in Russian attacks on Ukraine's transportation infrastructure, stating that hundreds of locomotives have been damaged or destroyed during this period. According to recent reports, Ukraine's air defense announced that in one night, Russia launched 80 aerial targets, with over 60 of them neutralized.
These attacks continue amid high tensions between Russia and Ukraine, and it appears that Russia's military tactics are changing to exert more pressure on Ukraine's critical infrastructure. This could have serious consequences for security and transportation in the country.
