A multi-story residential building in the western part of Gaza City collapsed last night, and six families reportedly became trapped under the rubble. According to local witnesses and Palestinian journalists, this incident occurred following previous Israeli bombings that had caused structural damage to the building.
Rescue Operations and Reactions
Verified images from local media show rescue teams working to extract young children from under the rubble. This operation continued on Wednesday morning, with local residents also manually assisting in the search for those who remained trapped.
Reports indicate that the sounds of children crying and calling for help could be heard from beneath the concrete, and civil defense forces were working to quickly reach them. In one video, a young girl was pulled alive from under the rubble, and several others, including children, were transported to the hospital by ambulance, gasping for breath.
Building Conditions in Gaza
It is still unclear whether there are any casualties resulting from this incident. The Gaza Ministry of Health and civil defense forces have not yet issued a statement regarding this matter. According to local media, this building had previously been damaged in earlier bombings and had become structurally unsafe.
Currently, thousands of homes and apartment buildings in Gaza have been damaged or partially destroyed due to the war and remain uninhabitable. Many Palestinians are living in temporary shelters and partially destroyed buildings, while Israel has restricted the entry of necessary construction materials for repairs and heavy equipment needed by rescue teams.
This shortage has forced rescue teams to rely primarily on manual labor to access individuals trapped in such incidents, significantly slowing response times in emergency situations.
