The war taking place over Ukraine not only destroys lives but also impacts the human spirit and emotions. As Russian airstrikes continue over Kyiv and other regions of Ukraine, women and children are at severe risk. Here, in the heart of fire and blood, love and humanity remain alive, even though accompanied by trembling hands in the wake of fear and terror.
Memories of War and Love
Stories from previous generations continue to live in the hearts of new generations. My grandmother, who was only 17 during World War II, barely managed to escape from the Nazis and build her life. She always said that life was hard for everyone during the war, but she considered herself lucky. These narratives remind us of how humans stand against darkness and strive to preserve love and kindness.
Today, in Kyiv, two of my friends told me that their hands start to tremble during air raids. These tremors have somehow become a sign of fear and terror, but for this reason, we continue to hold onto love and hope. I myself experienced a mental crisis during an airstrike in the Donetsk region and have never returned to normal since. Now it can be said that I am the voice of those who are in similar situations.
Love in the Heart of Darkness
We must remember that survival does not only mean staying alive; it also means preserving tenderness and love. In the midst of this war and destruction, we must love one another and not forget our humanity. This war not only harms our bodies but also challenges our souls and emotions. But as my grandmother said, we must continue to live and protect our love.
